Ending September with a few more fun activities!

Hey all,

It's almost October!!! Do any of you have your fall decorations up yet? We put ours up this weekend! It's my favorite time of year. Here are a few fun activities going on to bring September to a close!

Monday

Keva Block Exhibit at the Children's Museum in Portsmouth
Now through October 6th there is a block exhibit displayed at the Children's Museum in Portsmouth. There are thousands of wooden blocks sculpted into towers, buildings, furniture, bridges, and more! Regular admission applies.

Cookies and Storytime at Green Bean in Virginia Beach
We have yet to check out the new Green Bean but we are doing it soon because we have heard so many great things! Check out their Cookies and Storytime at 10:30 AM! It is $10 per child 13 months and older, $5 per child that is under 13 months- unlimited play all day!

Adventure Time
South Norfolk Library is hosting "Adventure Time" at 4:30 PM. Kids ages 5-9 are invited for games, reading, and fun activities! This is totally free! Just head over to 1100 Poindexter Street in Chesapeake.

Sew Zoey Fashion Design and Book Club

Ages 8-12 are invited to Kempsville Area Library to join the new book series called "Sew Zoey" by Chloe Taylor. They will learn a beginner design skill and learn more about fashion and crafting each week. They will also participate in a sewing project where they will sew pillows. This is every Monday at 4:30 PM. Register by calling 385-0147. It's FREE!

Discovery Days
Kids grades K-3 are invited to the Oceanfront Area Library for a parachute themed day! There will be reading, activities, and crafts all going along with the parachute theme! Register by clicking here. 

Bike Nights at Norfolk Botanical Garden
It's bike night again at Norfolk Botanical Garden. From 4-7PM tonight grab your bikes and your kids and head over to 6700 Azalea Gardens Road for Bike Night in the gardens. Regular Admission applies.

Free Zumbatomic Class ages 7-12
The Mambo Room (at 2200 Colonial Ave. in Norfolk) is offering FREE Children's Zumba classes! Head over every Monday from 5:30 - 6:25 PM for a free class! 


Active Parenting of Teens Program
Do you have a teenager? If so, you may want to advantage of a free class that Bon Secours DePaul Mary Immaculate Hospital (2 Bernardine Drive in Newport News) is offering. Parents will get tips on how to better communicate with their teenager and talk about tough subjects. This is every Monday night now through November 4th from 6-8PM.

School Supplies Drive
If you are in the mood for a sub, head over to Zero's Sub Shop at 3116 Western Branch Blvd. Bring in any school supplies and you will receive a free medium drink with your order.

Amazing Butterflies 
The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center a fun butterfly maze for kids to go through. In this maze, they will learn the stages a caterpillar goes through in order to turn into a butterfly. This is a hands-on life size maze that is open from 9AM - 5PM. Regular admission prices apply.
