Events to start out the week! 10/21 - 10/23

Hi everyone! It's almost Halloween and there are a lot of festive things going on in Hampton Roads! Have a fun time!

Monday
Amazing Butterflies (All Week)
All week the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center a fun butterfly maze for kids to go through. In this maze, they will learn the stages a caterpillar goes through in order to turn into a butterfly. This is a hands-on life size maze that is open from 9AM - 5PM. Regular admission prices apply.

Cookies and Storytime 
Ages 0-6 are invited to Green Bean in Virginia Beach (1952 Laskin Rd. Ste 509 at Regency Hilltop Shopping Center) for cookies and storytime at 10:30 AM. Admission is $10 per child (13 months and older) and $5 (13 months and younger). Click here for more details.

Mad Science Mondays

The Lafayette Branch Library in Norfolk is having "Mad Science Mondays" at 4 PM. Kids ages K-5 can have fun making exciting, gooey, hands-on experiments.

We are Young Writers! 
National Novel Writing Month is coming up and the Virginia Beach Public Libraries want to help you get ready! Grades K-12 can come to Great Neck Area Library (1251 Bayne Drive in Virginia Beach) at 4:30 PM to get ideas and tips on how to write their own novels.

American Girl Book Club
Ready a story about a young girl who is bullied at 5:00 PM at Little Creek Branch Library (7853 Tarpon Place in Norfolk). Register by clicking here. 

Halloween Events at Bass Pro Shops

There will be a fun Halloween events at the Bass Pro Shop at 5 PM. Head over to 1972 Power Plant Pkwy. in Hampton. 

Free Zumbatomic Class ages 7-12
The Mambo Room (at 2200 Colonial Ave. in Norfolk) is offering FREE Children's Zumba classes! Head over every Monday from 5:30 - 6:25 PM for a free class! 


Bike Nights at Norfolk Botanical Garden


It's bike night again at Norfolk Botanical Garden. From 4-7PM tonight grab your bikes and your kids and head over to 6700 Azalea Gardens Road for Bike Night in the gardens. Regular Admission applies.

Tuesday
ABC Art: Art for Preschoolers Ages 3-6
Head over (with your preschooler of course) to the Children's Museum of Virginia for a fun ABC Art class at 10 AM. This class is $50 for Tuesdays from now until November 5th. Hurry and register now by clicking here

Infant Massage Classes and Beyond the Delivery

VCE Family Focus is offering a great class to inform new parents about what to expect once you bring your sweet little one home from the hospital. The class and materials are $25. AND childcare is provided for older siblings. This class will take place at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 118 Old York-Hampton Hwy. in Yorktown at 10 AM. 

Little Rockstars Preschool Music Class (Tuesday and Wednesday)
This class for preschoolers happens every week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 AM and on Fridays at noon. It is $7 per adult & child and $5 per additional child. There are a lot of great reviews about this class- great energy for preschoolers- check it out!! It is at the Farmers Market in Virginia Beach.

Toddler Tuesdays at the Virginia Aquarium

Preschoolers are invited to the Virginia Aquarium at 11 AM & 12:30 PM for story time, songs, and an adventure in the aquarium. Click here for more information. 

Zoo Tales at Norfolk Zoo

Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11 AM are story time at the the zoo. Enjoy a great book and meet some cool animals! Regular admission applies. 


$1.50 Movie Night at Cinema Cafe
At the Greenbrier and Pembroke locations you can see a movie for only $1.50. What an awesome comparison to the very expensive movies in the regular theater. Plus you can eat lunch or dinner while you watch your movie.

Music Mommy & Me and Baby School (Tuesday and Wednesday)
Babies from birth to age 12 can have fun with music today at the Virginia Beach School of Arts. Try out a class for FREE at 10:00 AM at 3083 Brickhouse Ct. in Virginia Beach.

ARTreach Ages 3-5
There is a hands-on art workshop by the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). 

This will be from 2-3 PM at the Kempsville Area Library (832 Kempsville Rd. in Virginia Beach) and there will be another one from 10:30 - 11:30 AM at the Great Neck Area Library (1251 Bayne Drive in Virginia Beach).  

Monster Mash Storytime
The Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library is having a monster storytime to get festive for Halloween. Ages 3-5 can read books, play games, and dance to the monster mash from 2-3 PM. Also, come dressed in your costume! 

Lego Night at Cafe Stella
Make it a family night at Cafe Stella! Tuesday nights are Lego Night and your kids will have the opportunity to play with a ton of legos and hang out with other kids while you can enjoy grabbing something to eat. This is happening from 5:30-7:30 PM at 1907 Colonial Ave. in Norfolk.


Wednesday

Healthy Kids Club
For just $3, your child (ages 6-10) can enjoy a fun class where they can learn about making healthy food choices in a fun hands-on way. This will take place at the Whole Foods Market (1800 Laskin Rd. in Virginia Beach). This class begins at 4PM. Register by clicking here.

Early Expeditions
The Virginia Aquarium has another fun program for kids at 11 AM. Your toddler can learn problem solving and figure out "who, what, when, where and why" of the animal world. Regular admission is required. 

Goats!
Kids of all ages are invited to the Oceanfront Area Library to meet some goats from Shady Goad Farm and learn all the cool things about them! This will begin at 10 AM at 700 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach). 

Sing, Play, Move!
The Great Neck Area Library is inviting kids, ages 3-5 for fun family time. This will be from 6-6:30 PM at 1251 Bayne Drive in Virginia Beach.
