Happy Veterans Day! Take time to thank your family and friends who are veterans or active duty! We live in an awesome country where we have equal rights and freedoms that other countries don't have. We are so blessed to live in America!
Here are some fun events going on today in honor of Veterans Day.
Holiday Mail for Heroes
Stop in any time at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library to make a card or drop off a card for those who serve our country. Supplies and postage are provided. This will take place at 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Virginia Beach.
Mining and Crafting Veteran's Day Schools
Oxford Learning Center has Minecrafts and lego bricks for kids to build anything they imagine. This is for ages 6 and up. Bring your own lunch. This is from 8 AM - 4:30 PM and is $68 per child. Contact Robin Frazier at 757-541-9222. This is located at 805 N. Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake.
Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony
Tidewater Veterans Memorial is having a parade at 9 AM at 16th Street and Atlantic Ave. and ends at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial at 19th Street (across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.) Following the parade, a ceremony will take place at 11 AM at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial.
Hampton Roads Naval Museum: Thank a Veteran
Head over to Nauticus to show your support for our local Navy heroes by writing a letter of gratitude and greetings. This will be from 10 AM - 5PM at One Waterside Drive in Norfolk.
Annual Veterans Day Ceremony
Head over to City Hall in Chesapeake at 11 AM for the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony. It's hosted by the Mayor's Commission on Veterans Affairs.
